Farmers Market at Ix, May 16, 2026

Market Hours 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: Ix Art Park 522 Second St. SE, Charlottesville, VA

Operated by Market Central

Nice weather expected for a full market with warm weather produce coming in, especially with vendors who grow in greenhouses. Gillispie’s County Line Farm returns for the season with non-GMO fed, pasture-raised chicken, grass fed and grass finished beef, forested pork, and organically grown cut flowers. They do not have a permanent space yet, so check the maps for their locations. Hammered Inn Farm and Gardens also returns with their famous hot pepper products. They too will be in the flexible spaces category. Several populare vendors including Tilman’s Pickles do not have a permanently assigned spot due to limited space. This is when I always say if you would like to guide the future of farmers markets in our area to meet the need for space and regular access to local food, you are welcome to join the Market Central Board.

There are a few competing events this week that some of our regular arts and craft vendors are attending, leaving space for Temalle’s Baskets (you have been asking about him), and the Very Cherry Family who makes a variety of useful items out of cloth and wood. Starting this week, we host the Piedmont Master Gardeners so bring your questions about gardening. Everyone wants to know aboutThe Chinese Spotted Lantern Fly and what about the El Nino? There will be a good selection of garden plants this week offered by Singing Earth, Gathered Threads, Littel Hat Creek, Whisper Hill, Henley’s Farm and Orchard, Soul Soleil lavender, Ternion Springs Chestnut trees, Starstead Farm, and Lesley’s Garden. Perennial Love Native plants offers seasonal garden plants for a few weeks, and Fairweather Farm has offers fig plants, interesting herbs and ornamentals. I have been checking the local plant businesses and prices are so high this year. There was an $80 Rose at 5th Season. The FM@Ix prices are lower or competitive. Also, VA Tech research shows that smaller plants are a better deal. They acclimate to the surrounding soil faster and more successfully than the giant potted plants and trees.

This Sunday is the seasonal opening of the Starr Hill Market at Jefferson School City Center! New and different vendors are attending.

We’ll see you at the markets!

The following vendors and their locations are linked below.
