Farmers Market at Ix Art Park, June 3, 2023

Did you know that the Market at Ix is managed by a non-profit board and staff? It is, and we are Market Central. We’re pleased to announce a new board member, Nick Co. We could not exist without the board, so we are grateful for their service. We have some great volunteers, too, who help with the compost system, and setting up in the morning. We’re also pleased to tell you that Market Central and Bread and Roses community kitchen just won a grant from the Virginia Food Access Investment Fund to help develop food oriented businesses, especially in historically marginalized communities; and to increase access to local food through SNAP and VA Fresh Match. We think these programs will have positive affects on the farmers markets, communities, and small businesses. We look forward to implementing these program starting in July.

It look like the heat has finally arrived, so enjoy shopping in early morning tomorrow. SNAP may be used and is matched for eligible food, edible plants and seeds. We have reusable bags if you need them. Come to the Market Central booth to find out about a program that will reward customers for using reusable containers.
