Market Central Farmers Market at Ix, October 26, 2024
Hello Market Friends,
Sorry to complicate the name of our farmers market, but it is important to clear up some assumptions that the Ix Art Park funds the space or operations of the Market at Ix. They allow Market Central to rent the space which includes public use of the facilities and parking. Market Central manages vendors, organizes and oversees operations 50 weeks out of the year. The vendors themselves pay rental fees, and Market Central bills for management services paid out of the rental fees. Market Central also applies for grants to develop small food-oriented businesses, provide equitable food access, marketing and outreach, and other services when feasible and when funds are awarded. Community input guides planning and decisions making. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and we welcome new board members to guide the growth, sustainability, and creative growth of our market. Visit us at the Market Central booth to find out more!
The growing season is supposed to be winding down, but with sustained warm temperatures, summer is lasting another few weeks. The shorter days and colder nights do impact the ripening period, and several of our vendors have greenhouses to extend the season. In addition to summer produce, the fall selection of greens, winter squash, root vegetables, cole crops, mushrooms, apples, cider, pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, dahlias, chrysanthemums and more are available. The value-added products include baked goods (savory and sweet), jams, sauces, pickles, kimchi and ferments, honey and herbal products, coffee and teas, and ready-to-eat foods. This week, two chicken vendors return, along with the availability of beef, pork, duck, and fish (Cold Country Salmon). Art vendors this week bring pottery, bee houses (Mythic Makes), woodwork, beadwork, weaving, sewing, graphic arts, print making, and basketry.
Ryba’s Pieorgi, Hawksbill Pottery and Piece Pottery are less frequent vendors that will be among the many familiar vendor faces this week. Eat My Treats is coming from Buena Vista, and Chanterelle Bakery is a new-ish baker of gluten free and vegan options. For all of you in pursuit of Tamalle Baskets, this is your week.
Information about all the vendors and their locations is on the link below. We’re happy to help you with more information, and to process SNAP payment options at the Market Central Booth.
See you at the market!
