Farmers Market at Ix, Sept 28, 2024
True to form, late September brings us hurricane season. The ix Art Park is in a low lying area, so be sure to wear your boots. There’s nowhere for the water to go after a week of rain.
This is the last 8:00 to 12:00 market of the season.. Next week we open at 9:00 and close at 1:00. Come down for brunch and lunch for a more leisurely morning.
This week, we have a full house of vendors excited to bring their products to you. it seems Saturday is a little window with no rain forecast, between last week and another week of predicted rain. Our weather has evolved into periods of drought punctuated by floods. Thanks so much for your support of local farmers who bring food to our tables through these difficult conditions. We appreciate all of our vendors who bake, cook and create for Saturdays. Look for upcoming discussions about seeking sustainability through climate change for our markets.
If you or someone you know is interested in starting or growing a food business, Market Central and Bread and Roses are collaborating through the VA Food Access Investment Fund grant to offer free food business development classes. Find more information here:

Some of your favorite vendors are back this week, from Oro, to Chaotic Good, to Laurel Farms, and Ryba's Pierogi. Unfortunately our new cheese vendor who was only with us for about a month, is out of product for the season. If your favorite egg supplier is running low, check with Market Central to find other egg vendors. We’re helping to cover the gaps in the chickens’ low production season. Even chickens need a rest! Also, check with us to procure a local turkey for Thanksgiving. Both Bellair Farms and Gillispie’s County Line Farm are taking orders.
