Farmers Market at Ix, January 11, 2025
Happy New Year and welcome back to the Market Central Farmers Market at Ix. Opening day will be a little bumpy with another impending snow storm. We won’t complain, though. It used to be normal to have snow and cold weather in Central Virginia. The deep cold and snow will add to the water table and set back the insect emergence for the growing season. We even have to have a set number of cold days for blueberry and apple production.
The Bellair greens and root crops will be sweeter from the cold. If the vendor sign-up list holds, Singing Earth, Chevy Chase, Pork Stork, Mexican Tacos, Madison Mushrooms, Ternion Spring, Agriberry, and, of all vendors, the Temalle Baskets from Ghana will be there. (see vendor map below). Even Taiga Specialty Coffee is coming. Halleluiah! However, be prepared for changes overnight as the snowstorm comes through. We advise against driving in dangerous conditions for vendor and customer safety.
