Thanksgiving Market at Ix, Nov 22, 2025

Location: Ix Art Park, 522 Second St. N.E. Market Hours: 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Hello Market Community,

We are jam packed again this week with the last of the produce season, and arts and crafts vendors filling every gap. For those planning ahead the market next week, Nov. 29 will be a fun place to take your visitors and guests. A few “regular” vendors will be out, but we will have an assortment of farms and food, and many arts and craft vendors to kick off the official holiday shopping season.

Also, check out Market Central’s Starr Hill Market at the Jefferson School City Center. This Sunday, Nov. 23, is our last market for the 2025 season. See the Starr Hill Market blog for more information.

We are fully into the fall and winter season at the FM@Ix. Double H Farm, a market favorite, has returned from their summers at the Nelson Co. Farmers Market. Oakshire Farm is selling prepared foods, some with Double H meats. While demand for space is still tight, Double H and Oakshire will have to move into spaces that are vacated by others. Cloud 9 and Kiki’s Belgian Waffles are newer bakers, as well as RVPBars. They all started at the Starr Hill Market.

Vendor DL Shipp will be bringing whole pasteurized milk to the market in partnership with Mount Crawford Creamery in the valley. We’re pleased to be able to offer milk for the first time. We have had vendors who offered raw milk shares in the past, but the milk was not allowed to be in the market. Since this milk is pasteurized, it is legal at Virginia markets. It is not homogenized.

The SNAP program should be returning to normal with the end of the shutdown, and SNAP customers are seeing benefits returned to their cards. In the meantime, some very generous farmers and community members of the Keep Going Together group were filling the gap with free vegetables and coupons for eggs and bread. There is still a balance in the KGT fund to distribute to the Market at Ix SNAP clients. See the Keep Going Together Bread and Eggs fund to find out what it’s all about.

As we see this market year out, we are preparing the applications for next year. We welcome feedback from the market community for suggestions and comments. This is your market- it would not happen without you. Use the comment section below for feedback. Additionally, Market Central is seeking applicants for our nonprofit board. How do you see the role of the markets and local food in our future? Come talk to us.

Save the date: Jan. 17, 2:30-5:00 at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Central auditorium: A Community Conversation on Preparing Food Growing and Access for Climate Change.

To see all of the vendors participating this Saturday, click on the Nov 22 Market Map link. Scroll over each space, and click to see more information.

We’ll see you at the Market, rain or shine!
