It’s the 26th annual national Farmers Market Week. If you’ve wanted to try different products at the market, this Saturday may be your chance with the Taste of the Market $2/taste ticket smorgasbord. We hope you find some new foods to try. Maybe this will be something to build on for future Farmers Market Weeks. It’s all about the food! There will also be a tomato tasting contest where you, the public, can try the tomatoes and vote on your favorite. Finally, there will be deals and incentives-check Market Central and Farmers Market at Ix Social media for more activities.
A new market is opening in Charlottesville. The Starr Hill Market, at historic Jefferson School City Center will open on August 17 from 9:30-1:30. and on Sundays twice per month through November. The Starr Hill market is the culmination of the Virginia Food Access Investment Fund grant— in which Market Central proposed to support small and beginning farm and food businesses in the area. If you know of an aspiring grower or producer, please send them our way. We plan to reopen in spring 2026.
