Farmers Market at Ix, Aug 16, 2025 Market Hours: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Hello Friends,
We’re pluggin along- the plants keep growing and producing, and we all keep eating! That’s the way it goes. Thanks so much for the good turn out for Farmers Market Week. Folks tasted a lot of tomatoes for the tasting contest, and Mr. Stripey from Singing Earth Produce won again! The Taste of the Market was a good start to an activity that we will pursue at future Farmers Market Weeks. Customers buy low cost tickets for a sampler size portion, and taste a lot of products they have not tried before. It was a lot of fun.
In market news, the Starr Hill Market is opening at the Jeffersons School City Center on Sunday, Aug 17. Lack of space on Saturdays for the many vendor applicants, and the need for alternative days, times, sizes, styles, etc. of markets was our impetus. The space is very comfortable with shade, restrooms, parking and seating. We’re a bit low in vendors so far, a few more are ready to join. We’re open every other Sunday. Encourage budding entrepreneurs to participate and help us grow!
This week at the Market at Ix, most of the farms are in. In the vendors -out-vendors -in rotations, we have Cville Crumpets trying out a new spot next to Pie Guy. Give them a try— they are a family operation with young students who will be returning to school and their summer availability is almost over. Khushbu , for your Indian Street food fix, is back after a few weeks out.
On the arts, gifts, and home-goods front, we have PAS ceramics and Piece Pottery, candles by Gooch Gardener, Glass by SBP Glassworks and Milk Glass, textile art items created with artist designed fabrics by New Wing, , green fabric -based house-keeping items by Suzu living, clothing featuring African fabric designs by Solange. In jewelry, Silver Grouper, Woolie Boolie, new artist Arzan, Girls Day Out, Bead Creations, Designs by Melanie and Shaylynn Creates offer unique selections. A tie dye T-shirt from Random Acts of T-shirts may also be in your repertoire this week. Last but not least, the whole family gets into craft creations at Very Cherry Family. In their own category, you can get a poem written just for you from Charlottesville Poem store.
If you are under the weather how about a shot of Elixir? LG’s Medley makes an herbal concoction based on his grandmother’s plant based remedy. Or how about a Chia shot at Mix Eve?
We certainly have a lot to offer at this market, and it takes every one of our customers to be able to do it! Thanks for coming to support these local farm, food and art businesses.
