Farmers Market at Ix, May 23, 2026

Market Hours 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: Ix Art Park 522 Second St. SE, Charlottesville, VA

Operated by Market Central

Hello Friends,

We feel relief from the rain for our farms, lawns, trees and plants. As always, our market is open rain or shine. Bring your umbrella and enjoy the cooler air. The Ix Art Park is putting up a tent for their art show which takes place this weekend after the market. They plan on leaving the tent up for a few months to offer shade for the market and their future events. For clarification, the Ix Art Park does not sponsor the market. Market Central rents the space from the Ix Art Park with the vendor payments. The market is 100% self funded with vendor payments and non-local grants. The Market Central Board is currently researching plans to achieve a sustainable and resilient market to support local food access and production. We’re always open to ideas. Anybody know anything about Communtiy Land Trusts? Tallk to us!

We have a knew compliance manager to help keep our vendors in line with the many federal, state, local, and tenant rules and regulations. It’s another area of market management that requires funding to monitor compliance. Markets do not just happen! We recently changed hands with our marketing and program personnel, too. And last but not least, we opened the Starr Hill Market last week for the second year. We will be open every Sunday from 9:30 to 1:30. This market provides opportunities for more small businesses and to access. local food in a neighborhood market.

It’s still a good time to pick up plants for your gardens and there are plenty available at the market. Some of the “occasional” vendors coming in are Honeysuckle Creek, Fermented Fire Hot Sauce, Nona’s Italian Cucina, Hawksbill Pottery, and Khushbu Indian Food. Check out their products while you have a chance.

We also want to pay our respects to Maggie Stultz who passed away in early May. She was a long time vendor at City Market and a founding vendor of the Farmers Market at Ix in 2018. She produced hand built pottery painted with fruits, flowers, and colorful glazes. Even if you did not know her, you knew her presence. We thank her for her long time devotion to farmers markets, and for her work. I hope you have a piece of her pottery. We will miss her and wish her peace. Memorial Day is for remembering those who gave their lives in military service. We can also remember our lost vendors. It’s a hard life.
