Farmers Market at Ix, June 20, 2026

Market Hours: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: Ix Art Park, 522 Second St. SE, Charlottesville, VA

Happy Summer Solstice and Juneteenth,

It’s a great day to celebrate the sun at its peak and all the great foods the sun produces. We also hope our markets embody our purposeful intent to provide farms, food and arts businesses equitable access to Market Central, it’s programs, markets and leadership opportunity.

This week at the market, Wateen’s Cookies has returned from a trip overseas. A few folks have asked about their sweetrolls and stuffed cookies. Also, Solange Sewing returns. You will recognize the colorful dresses and clothing made from African style prints, and bright fabric. These clothing items are entirely made by hand. We are introducing Blue Ridge Play and Pantry, a Launch Pad business. Launch Pad is the program coordinated by the Charlottesville Investment Collaborative and the local farmers markets to introduce business startups founded by CIC graduates. Look for more CIC businesses participating at FM@Ix , Starr Hill, and the City Markets. One half of Blue Ridge Play and Pantry consists of sensory kits for children on the Autism Spectrum , and baked goods comprise the other half. Check out the CIC entrepreneurs!

As part of the Solstice and Juneteenth celebrations, stop by the Starr Hill Market on Sunday, at the Jefferson School City Center. The Bean Finger Farm and Flowers will attend (how can you resist that name?) with new baker Eden’s Table, and returning vendors listed on the Starr Hill blog. There will be lawn games and plant prizes. Help build our neighborhood pocket market in the historic African American Starr Hill neighborhood Everyone should have access to a local market, both to develop businesses, and access local food and products.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback.

See you at the Markets!
