We’ve had a breath of fresh air this week, and it looks to continue for Saturday. Every space is filled this week, with relief to be able to withstand the outdoor conditions and see the end of the challenging month of July 2026. We know summer is not over, but it’s good to get a break. Speaking of breaks, vendors find that there is a midsummer slowdown, due to heat, vacations, less demand for food, and other reasons. Some of our vendors are on break, too. Sweet Greens will return in August, while Big Soup is taking August off., and Mary’s Beadworks and Curios is on break, too. Everyone needs a moment to recharge and refresh. But the funny thing is we need to eat every day, even if it’s not much in the heat, and the fruits and vegetables are so satisfying.
It can be tricky juggling all of these vendors- for some reason we have 5 potters this week! Enjoy the opportunity to shop, as they often disappear in fall to participate in the many arts and crafts shows. WY Woodworking returns for the first time this season ad Orion Family Farms is back, too, with pay-what-you-will flowers. Ask about their challenge to the Valley Link Power Line that goes right through their property. Other than those mentioned, you’ve seen most of the vendors throughout the years of the market.
We have a great line-up for this week, and also want to draw your attention to National Farmers Market Week coming up Aug 2-8 at both of our Market Central markets. We’ll host exciting food tastings, and information booths presented by expert partners. Watch for details on social media and CVille Weekly ads. On Aug 2, at the Starr Hill Market, the Cville Yoga Club will offer a free yoga class at the market, and CVille VegEd will conduct a Plant Centered Thriving demo and tasting. Celebrate farmers markets with us at these events in August. And be glad local food doesn’t have to incorporate surging gas prices for shipping.
