October 2021 updates

Fall and Winter hours go into affect Oct 2!

Market hours starting Oct. 2: 9:00 a. m. to 1:00 p.m.

For those who enjoy Clover Top Creamery cheese, their goats are in a resting stage, so the cheese-making season is over for 2021. We wish them a restful fall and winter, and look forward to their return in 2022.

While we will miss CloverTop, we have good news for local cheese lovers: Ballerino Creamery from Staunton will be joining us for November and early Dec. What a lucky find for our market! https://www.ballerinocreamery.com/about

Sussex Farm is changing their regular schedule. This month, they will be attending the market on Oct 2, 16, and 30th.

Another new vendor is trying our market this week: Popitos Pizza. They will be making a variety of pizzas, including a breakfast pizza! Try them out and tell us what you think.

Last week we had two new artisans: No Mud No Lotus Henna for your henna tattoo needs, and Critter Butts and Deep Holler Leatherworks, a partnership with block prints and finely detailed leather work. You can also find Joan and Dylan at the Thursday Night Market at Ix. (4:00 to 8:00)

The shortages in the food supply chain have affected Sweet Jane’s Kitchen supply of crab meat. They will not be able to set up at the Thursday Night Market to conserve supply for Saturdays. We’ll miss them and their Maryland Style Crabcakes. So get your crab cake fix on Saturdays.

Coming up!

The United Way Block Party, Oct. 14, at the Thursday Night Market at Ix. 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Free and open to the public. More information can be found here, and updates will be posted soon. https://fb.me/e/28Lvahb45

Martha’s Market at the Saturday Market at Ix, Oct. 23, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcxe3tIpIYo

Vendors who are out for 10/2: Althea Bread, Chaotic Good Tempeh, the Pie Guy, Designs by Melanie, Bead Creations and Curios, Perennial Love Botanicals

October is a season of transition as summer crops fade and fall crops are just coming in. COVID is still causing a back-up in the processing of meat and Sweet Jane’s Kitchen is facing a shortage of crab meat. Many artisan and prepared food vendors attend other craft shows during this period. There is a resulting turnover of vendors. Vendors who are out for Oct. 9 include Althea Bread, TGR Kombucha, the Pie Guy, Family Ties and Pies, Marci’s Morsels, Sussex Farm, Gryffon’s Aerie, Frank Shepard, Lola and Bella, and Perennial Love Botanicals. Coming in this week are Back Pocket Provisions, Woo Woo Soaps, Shoestring Weaving, Critter Butts, Deep Holler Leatherworks, and the rest of our “regular” vendors. Hope to see you at the market!
