Farmers Market at Ix Art Park, April 8, 2023

Last week we were facing 40 mph wind gusts. This week we are drooping from the heat. I guess that is the nature of spring, but we do notice the extremes. That is why we are working on the compost and climate mitigation plans at the market. If you forget your reusable bags, please make use of the take-a-bag, leave-a-bag option at the managers booth. Bring your own containers for microgreens, and other products.

Broadhead Mountain Farm, Lesley’s Garden, and Hammered Inn Farm and Gardens are starting their season this week. If it gets hot, Tico Loco is selling copos/granizados (shaved ice treats) in the Costa Rican tradition to cool off. Tonoloway Farms (maple and other tree syrups) from Highland Co., Marci’s Morsels, and Frolic Coffee are returning for this season, too. We are just about back in full force for the growing season.

There are many good reasons to visit the market this week. SNAP clients can join in the spring season fun by using SNAP to buy eligible food and VA Fresh Match for free fruits, vegetables, and food-producing plants and seeds.

The following vendors have signed up for Sat. April 8.
