Farmers Market at Ix, February 24, 2024
Hello Market Community,
It’s the last market in February already. Just like that, we’re heading into spring. Looking ahead, with the longer daylight and the switch to daylight savings time on March 10, expect Spring and Summer hours to go into effect in early April.
While we wait for the early spring farmers, there is opportunity to feature new start-up artisans and prepared food vendors In the meantime, look for the return of farm and bakery Little Hat Creek next week! The farms this week include Agriberry, Singing Earth, Bellair, Double H, Chevy Chase, Inglewood, Ternion Springs, Wanders Hill, Free Union Grass Farm, Madison Mushrooms, Rappahannock River Mushrooms, and Henley’s— still a pretty good array for February! SNAP and VA Fresh Match can be used to access this nutritious food.
The baked goods vendors have outdone themselves with an amazing range of choices. Hope you can try the Greek, Turkish, Afghani, Traditional American, and French styles, or check out the plant-based snacks from Good Phyte. Prepared foods also abound, with Mexican, Guatemalan, Southern fusion, Jamaican, Italian, Polish Pierogies, Maryland style crab cakes, and more represented. There are creative offerings of soups, crepes, waffles, and hand pies in international traditions. Look for Pi Day Pie activities on Mar. 16. The link to the full line-up for 2/24 is below.
Looking for someone at the market? Visit the Market Central booth near the little ticket booth with the rooster on top.
Looking to manage a small organic, regenerative farm? A person in the Crozet area is looking for a manager to take over their project. Contact Market Central for more information.
