Farmers Market at Ix, July 13, 2024

This past week, when the temperatures were 80 degrees at 6:00 a.m. is when we know that farmers are heroes. They have to work in these conditions to water, weed, harvest and prepare for future plantings, and for coming to the market. Plants are dying in our yards, so we know what a struggle it is to keep things growing in these heat waves and draughts. .
That reminds us, that this August 4-10, 2024, is National Farmers Market Week. You are invited to a Farmers Market Forum at the Jefferson Madison Central Library, Swanson Room, on Tuesday, August 6, from 4:00 till 5:30. Join the public discussion of our community markets: our history, where we now, and where we are going. How should we face challenges? Markets for all should be made by all! Please mark your calendars. There will also be special activities at the Aug 10 Market at Ix, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, nourish yourselves with fresh local produce, farm and value added products. Avoid turning on your ovens, and let the bakers bake for you this week. And nourish your spirit by seeing your friends, perusing local art and crafts, sipping on coffee, teas, and smoothies, and supporting each other.
