The fun isn’t over for National Farmers Market Week! Due to interruptions with tropical storm Debby, several state-wide markets had to put off their programming, including the Governor’s NFMW proclamation. We’re grateful for the recognition of the role farmers markets play in the community. Our market sponsored tomato and watermelon tastings, nature related tattoos for big and little kids, and the most spectacular market basket raffle. Your Farmers Market at Ix vendors donated enough products to fill 3 beautiful Temalle Baskets with wonderful produce, food, and art. (perishable produce to be picked up with vouchers). The drawing takes place at 10:00 tomorrow morning. Tickets may be purchased on this website through the donate button ($10 suggested donation per ticket) or in person up until the drawing. This concludes NFMW 2024, although we will follow up on farmers markets for the future as discussed at the Farmers Market Forum. We always welcome community collaboration in planning farmers market sustainability for the future.
The farm vendors are steadily producing summer produce, with the season gradually moving into late summer. The earliest of apples are in, and sweet and hot peppers are finally abundant. Need some pickles? Lesley’s Garden has added pickles to preserve the cucumber harvest. Our newer vendors Razzbourne Creamery and Thistlerock Mead are returning. This week is your chance to check out products from occasional vendors, Lutra Village, Kossiwa’s Sewing, and Wanders Hill farm. Alternating vendors include Oro pasta, Chaotic Good Tempeh, Hammered Inn hot sauce, Spalted Rock Woodcraft, and Piedmont Master Gardeners. By the way, we say goodbye to Inglewood Farm Fine Meats. They are dissolving their business in Nelson Co. Let us know what you’d like to see at the market.
