This is the end of the 8th year of the Farmers Market at Ix. We co-founded the market with the art park as a winter market in 2018, and in 2020 we became Charlottesville’s only year round market. We now are contractors with the sole responsibility of operating the market. We pay rent to the Ix Art Park.

The public has shown that they support local farms, food and arts, and we would like to safeguard our access to that choice. On that note, on Jan. 17, from 2:30 until 5:00 p.m. Market Central, the Food Justice Network, and the IRC New Roots will be sponsoring A Growing Response to Climate Change, a community response to growing and accessing local food under the challenging conditions of climate change. The event takes place at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center auditorium and is funded by the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County Resiliency Together grant. The community is welcome. More information will be posted in the media.

As the non-profit sponsors and managers of the market, Market Central is in need of board members to guide and improve the market for the future. You can find us at the market management tent if you are interested.
