Farmers Market at Ix, July 19, 2025 Market Hours 8:00-12:00
We’re all plugging along through the heat and the humidity. Plants are growing (including weeds!) fruits and vegetables ripening, flowers blooming, animals grazing, and they all converge at the market each Saturday. We are halfway through 2025 now, and the amazing farm bounty is entering peak stage. Local vacationing families will return soon for the opening of Charlottesville Public Schools on Aug. 13. Sun Bucks SNAP is due to appear on SNAP families’ cards right about now to help families with children provide food in the summer. The Senior Farm Market Fresh program is working through beaurocratic hold-ups, but seniors can still sign up for the program at the Market Central booth, and receive benefits in time for the summer harvests. Coming up for August look for the 26th annual National Farmers Market week activities, and the Charlottesville Albemarle and UVA Climate Resiliency Cohort event will tentatively be set for September.
On tap for this week, the farms always reign supreme, but we also have many bakers with a variety of baking styles. For hydration coffee, tea, kombucha, coconut water based juices (new vendor Coco Gin), smoothies, lavender lemonade (Soul Soleil), a tea and lemonade blend (Sweet Janes Kitchen) and meade are available. Water (both tap and bottled) is available at the Market Central booth. The arts and crafts represented include jewelry, pottery, beadwork, glasswork, weaving, sewing, crochet, woodwork, graphic arts, and herb and honey based personal-care products. FYI the SNAP program stipulates 50% eligible food, therefore, crafts and non-eligible products cannot exceed the limit.
Thanks as always for attending and making this market what it is.
