Summer 2020

The Farmers Market at Ix is growing as we head into the summer season. Vendors find onsite markets more environmentally friendly with less packaging required compared to pre-orders. Customers can go back to using their reusable containers and bags. Vendors also say they like to be seen, and customers like to look over the products. Last minute ripened or harvested products cannot be added to the online ordering model.

However, pre-ordering is advantageous in bad weather, reserves products in case vendors sell out, and gives ample time to look over and learn about products. We are continuing to add products for your convenience. Hyrdropure Microgreens, Mont Alto Sungrown, Nature’s Bridge/the Farming Artist, Philosophers Tea and others offer their products on the Market Central Lulu’s Local Food Hub, but have no physical presence at the Ix site. Orders for their products can be picked up at the managers table at Ix. Look for more art vendors to list their products on the Lulu’s site, as we wait for broader opening of the walk through markets. https://marketcentral.luluslocalfood.com. The markets of the future will continue to have on-site and online options.

The latest re-opening directives for markets allow walk-through shopping, while wearing masks to face the public, keeping surfaces clean, and avoiding large congregations or congestion. Groups can sit and eat or relax at the picnic tables at Ix Art Park without masks. We no longer have to hustle customers away as soon as they pick up their purchases. In our open outdoor atmosphere, the prepared food and art vendors are returning.
