Farmers Market at Ix, Sept 14, 2024

With the decrease in daylight, the market hours will be changing to 9:00 to 1:00 the first market in October, October 5.

Signs of Fall are appearing all over at the market. Broadhead Mountain’s sweet potatoes are in, and gourds, pumpkins, fall greens, root vegetables, cole crops and apples have returned. Chyrsanthemums and gorgeous Dahlias are the highlight. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and summer vegetables are still abundant.

We say goodbye to Rappahannock River Mushrooms. Their family is making changes which don’t include continuing the mushroom business. He does have a mushroom-growing kit available if anyone is interested! Mushrooms are still available from Madison Mushrooms, and Ternion Springs.

Grapes are available from Wengers Grapes, probably until the end of the month. It’s a fairly short season. On our alternating vendor list, this week LG’s Elixir, Ryba’s Pierogi, Oro, and Nona’s Italian Cucina are in. Crescent Moon Confections returns after a long absence.

For added fun and education, The UVA Biology Outreach Inclusion team will be participating this week. We always look forward to connecting to our UVA community.

This market accepts SNAP for eligible food purchases and matches with VA Fresh Match.

Check our market map for the farmers, food producers and artists that will be attending this week.
